Classic Portrait Drawing
Enjoy the satisfaction of drawing realistic portraits from plaster cast replicas of famous sculptures. Create the illusion of a three-dimensional head through the use of light and shade. Draw the skull and discover how it affects the shape of the head and learn the basic shapes of the eye, mouth, nose and ears by sketching plaster copies from Michelangelo's David. Finish the course with two sessions of drawing a portrait from life. By the end of the course you should be able to depict accurate facial proportions, render shading and tone to show 3D form, and draw an expressive likeness of an individual. Painting Our Local Landscape

During this course you will learn basic drawing techniques for producing preliminary sketches, oil painting techniques including how to mix colours, and how to make a good composition. Introduction to Silversmithing
In this course you will complete three or more pieces of jewellery in sterling silver. You will learn to design and size a ring, a linked chain bracelet and a solid cuff bangle. Skills taught include sawing, filing, sanding, polishing, annealing (heat treatment) and soldering precious metal. This course sets you on a path to explore gold and silversmithing as a fine art or to prepare a portfolio for a jeweller's apprenticeship. To cover the cost of sterling silver, use of tools and equipment, and hardware, $60 will need to be paid to the tutor on the first day.

Mosaics with Broken Tiles - Level 2
Use the skills you learnt in the introductory course while challenging yourself a little more. In this course we will combine the 'direct' and 'indirect' methods of mosaicing. This time we will decorate a pot in a project combining broken and shaped tiles and perhaps adding a few 'objects of interest'. This is a fun course for people with a little mosaics experience. The trainer can accommodate beginners, although you will benefit from doing the introductory course first. There is an additional $35 materials fee payable to the trainer on the first evening.

Fabric Sculpture
In this class we will be making a 50cm tall sculpture of a man or woman sitting on a plinth. This is a beginners' class and you will learn the simple techniques that are the building blocks of many other more advanced sculptures. The sculpture will be a single colour of your own choice. When your figurine is dry it will appear soft and flowing while being hard and weatherproof. It is equally at home in indoor or outdoor settings. Coloured Clay Jewellery
Learn to manipulate coloured clay (fimo) to create brooches, earrings and pendants. You will create banksia babies, blossom babies, and a "fruits and flowers" brooch and earrings.
