What is a traineeship?

Employees: A Traineeship is an opportunity to gain a qualification while you are in working. You can increase your knowledge and skills on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification with financial subsidy.

Employers: Traineeships provide an opportunity to up skill workers on the job and tailor training to suit your business needs. A skilled work force is an asset to your business. Financial Incentives may be available to employers. (Subject to availability)

Where does the funding come from? Traineeships are funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training.

Which courses can I do under a Traineeship? See the links below for the courses available for traineeship through ACE North Coast Community Colleges

Do I have to attend classes?

No. Trainees can learn on the job and an ACE North Coast Community Colleges industry specialist will visit you in the workplace. The industry specialist will develop a training plan in consultation with the trainee and their employer, deliver workbooks for you to complete and will answer any emails and phone questions as required. Classroom based training may be available if required. Employer and trainee choose what suits them best.

Am I eligible? Eligibility is assessed by an Australian Apprenticeships Centre representative and ACE North Coast Community Colleges can refer you to them. The AAC representative will visit the workplace to discuss individual needs and circumstances. This must be done before training starts.

How long will it take to complete a traineeship? The length of time taken to complete a traineeship is individual and depends on the level of qualification, if employment is full time or part time and length of time in the job. The time given to complete is assessed by the Australian Apprenticeships centre representative at their initial visit.

I'm interested, what do I need to do? Contact us and we will answer your training related questions and refer you to an Australian Apprenticeships Centre. We are happy to take enquiries from employers and trainees.
